KWHY-TV reverted to the Spanish independent television station with revamped 7pm and 10pm newscasts with Palmeira Perez starting in January 2017, which owned by the Meruelo Group, leaded by failed Atlanta Hawks owner, Alex Meruelo. Sonlife Broadcasting Network, owned by Jimmy Swaggart remained on digital channel 22.2 and on KILM channel 64 from Barstow.
